SKIKK batteries

They are in every SKIK Laptop. And ensure that you can do what you want anytime and anywhere. Here you will find more information about your device's battery, so you can get the most out of it. Even years later.

Why lithium-ion?

Your device will perform at its best with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Compared to older battery types, lithium-ion batteries are lighter, last longer and charge more efficiently.

The battery charges quickly for ease of use and slowly for longer life.

Most SKIKK lithium-ion batteries charge up to 80% of the total battery capacity via a fast charging process and then switch to trickle charging. The time it takes to reach that first 80% depends on the settings and the type of device you are charging. Software can limit charging above 80% when the recommended battery temperature is exceeded. The combination of these two charging processes not only ensures that you can get back on the road with your device in no time, but also extends the life of the battery at the same time.

Charging becomes easier.

You can charge your SKIKK lithium-ion battery whenever it suits you. You don't have to wait until the battery is completely empty. SKIKK lithium-ion batteries work on the basis of charging cycles. You have completed one charging cycle when you have used 100% of the battery capacity, regardless of the number of times you recharge your device in between. For example, suppose you use 75% of the battery capacity one day and then fully charge your device overnight. When you have used the remaining 25% of the battery the next day, that is a total of 100%, or one charging cycle. It may therefore take a few days for the battery to complete a full charging cycle. With all batteries, the capacity decreases after a certain number of charges. In the case of lithium-ion batteries, the capacity decreases slightly with each complete charge cycle. However, the number of cycles that SKIKK lithium-ion batteries go through before the capacity drops to 80% of the original value is very large. The exact number varies per product.

Optimally performing batteries

The usage and lifespan of the battery mainly depend on what you use your device for most. Record videos and play games? Or email and type? There are always ways to boost battery performance.

Service and recycling

All rechargeable batteries can only be charged a limited number of times and may eventually need to be serviced. If you notice that you have to charge your device more and more often, there is a good chance that it is time for a new battery.

We recycle your battery responsibly.

It is bad for the environment to just throw a battery in the trash. If you have the battery of your SKIKK device checked by SKIKK or a SKIKK dealer, you can be sure that it will be recycled in a responsible manner. You can even have your entire device – including battery – recycled by us.

Battery life

All rechargeable batteries have a limited lifespan and may eventually need to be serviced, repaired or recycled. How long the battery of your device lasts depends on the use of your device, the chosen configuration and the chosen settings.

We test our laptops for battery life in the following way: Watch full screen non-stop YouTube films with 50% screen brightness.

Tips: Optimize your settings.

Electricity usage . The Power Saver preference pane contains several settings that let you influence the amount of power your laptop uses. Your laptop detects whether or not it is connected to the mains and adjusts its behavior accordingly. When the battery is active, the screen dims and other components are used as little as possible. Adjusting these settings to increase performance will drain the battery faster.

Brightness . You can optimize battery life by reducing the brightness of the screen to the lowest level at which you can still work comfortably. For example, if you watch a movie on an airplane with all the lights off, the screen does not need to be at the highest brightness.

WiFi . WiFi consumes power, even when you are not connected to a network. If you're not using Wi-Fi, you can turn it off in the Wi-Fi status menu in the menu bar or in the Network preference pane.

Apps and peripherals . Disconnect peripherals and close apps you don't use. Remove an SD card if you are not currently using it.

Charge another device? Turn on and connect your laptop.  Make sure your SKIKK is turned on and connected to a power source if you use it to charge other devices via USB. Otherwise, these devices can cause the battery of your SKIKK to drain faster. If another device is connected to your SKIKK laptop while it is turned off or in sleep or standby mode, that device's battery may drain.
