When you have a laptop or desktop with both an Nvidia GPU and an integrated Intel GPU, the Nvidia GPU may not always be used by default. This can cause performance issues when running certain applications or games. In this article, we will explain how to set the Nvidia GPU as the preferred graphics processor on your device.
1. Open the Nvidia Control Panel
First, you need to open the Nvidia Control Panel. You can do this by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting "Nvidia Control Panel" from the context menu.
2. Select "Manage 3D Settings"
Once the Nvidia Control Panel is open, select "Manage 3D Settings" from the left-hand menu.
3. Select the "Program Settings" tab
Next, click on the "Program Settings" tab to access the settings for individual applications.
4. Add the application you want to use the Nvidia GPU for
Click on the "Add" button and navigate to the application that you want to use the Nvidia GPU for. Once you've selected the application, click on "Add Selected Program" to add it to the list.
5. Select the Nvidia GPU as the preferred graphics processor
Under "Select the preferred graphics processor for this program", select "High-performance Nvidia processor" from the drop-down menu.
6. Apply the changes
Finally, click on the "Apply" button to save the changes you've made.
From now on, the application you've added to the list will use the Nvidia GPU as the preferred graphics processor. You can repeat these steps for any other applications you want to use the Nvidia GPU for.
